How does BFI carry out bulk cargo transport across Europe?
Transport of bulk and semi-bulk loose cargo plays a key role in agricultural, industrial, and energy logistics. Grains, meals, and pellets require the right approach: proper equipment, planning, and experience. At BFI, we have been organizing transport of this type of cargo across Europe for years — safely, on time, and in compliance with applicable regulations.
What do we transport in bulk and semi-bulk?
- grains (wheat, barley, corn),
- meals (soybean, rapeseed, sunflower),
- pellets (biomass, feed, wood).
These cargos can be transported completely in bulk (loose) or in semi-bulk, for example in big bags, depending on the client’s needs and the specifics of the unloading location.
What types of trailers do we use?
Depending on the type of cargo and its properties, we select the appropriate trailer type:
- walking floor – ideal for light and dusty materials,
- tipper trailers – for quick unloading at industrial sites,
- curtainsiders/mega trailers – for transporting big bags and palletized products (semi-bulk).
This allows us to flexibly match the transport vehicle to each specific order.
Challenges in bulk transport
Bulk transport involves a number of challenges:
- protection against moisture or dust,
- proper sealing of the trailer,
- avoiding cross-contamination (especially with feed and food products),
- the need to comply with sanitary and veterinary regulations.
How does BFI handle these challenges?
-
We use trailers that are cleaned and inspected before every loading,
-
We provide photos and documentation confirming cleanliness and transport readiness,
-
We plan routes considering loading/unloading times and seasonal requirements,
-
We have a team that understands the specifics of bulk transport and offers full operational support.
Transporting bulk materials requires precision logistics. At BFI, we provide not only the right equipment but also a team that understands the needs of clients and carriers. Our experience in loose and semi-loose cargo transport guarantees safety, quality, and punctuality.
