Sandra’s story

SCC Transport Coordinator

At BFI from 2021

  • How did your adventure with BFI begin?

In 2020 I had my first experience with BFI, but it was in 2021 that our paths merged for good. While changing jobs, I was keen to continue doing what I love, which is trucking. There was no such internal movement option in the company at the time, so we were able to introduce something new. BFI was the only company that gave me so much confidence and allowed me to continue with my career. I heard “If you love it, do it!” and that was that! That’s how we were able to build a new team of six now.

  • What surprised you most about BFI?

The fact that there are no strings attached. At first, during my onboarding, I thought to myself: “That’s not possible, it’s too good to be true; there has to be a catch somewhere!” And I looked for it, I peeled my eyes for it, but… I have not found it yet. It surprised me that you can have such a rapport with other staff, the management and that these relationships are buddy-like. And those values that are communicated here on social media or during recruitment: issues of trust, respect, or communication; they really are here every day. Anyway, it would be hard to pretend all of this!

  • What has your work at BFI taught you?

Awareness. Working at BFI has made me a conscious worker and a conscious coordinator. I have learnt a lot when it comes to working with people; to build long-lasting relationships by being aware of myself, the market, the tasks, the ability to navigate the industry with a focus on making people come first. Thanks to BFI, I feel I am in a good place. I want to grow, I can do it and I cannot see any ceiling to that.

  • How would you describe BFI in three words?

A family-owned business that cares about values; a company that makes their employees feel secure, and a company that is demanding
