Comprehensive logistics is much more than transport
In logistics, the success of a project depends not only on the efficient transportation of cargo from point A to point B. Increasingly, the key factor is the ability to manage the entire process – from collecting containers at the port, through warehousing and transshipment, to on-time deliveries to the final recipients.
In practice, this means not only providing road transport, but also coordinating additional services such as warehousing, transshipment, and distribution planning. As a result, the client receives one comprehensive solution instead of multiple separate services delivered by different providers.
This is exactly what comprehensive logistics services offer – enabling companies to reduce the number of involved partners, streamline communication, and gain greater control over the entire supply chain. Instead of coordinating several companies, the client works with a single logistics operator responsible for every stage of the process.
One such project was carried out by BFI in November 2025. Due to the nature of our cooperation, we do not disclose the client’s name; however, the project itself perfectly demonstrates how multiple logistics services can be integrated into one seamless process.
Challenge
The client was importing goods in sea containers. Our task was not only to organize the transport of containers from the port, but also to plan the entire logistics process – from collecting the units at the terminal, through warehousing and transshipment, to road transport to multiple unloading locations at farms.
The project required precise coordination, careful scheduling, and ongoing communication between all parties involved in the process. The main objective was to provide the client with a single partner responsible for the entire supply chain.
Scope of services provided by BFI
In November 2025, we completed **84 transports**, but the number alone does not reflect the scale of the project. The greatest value was the comprehensive logistics service, covering multiple interconnected operations.
As part of a single project, we were responsible for:
* collecting containers from the port,
* transporting containers to the warehouse,
* organizing warehousing services,
* transshipment and preparation of cargo for further distribution,
* delivery schedule planning,
* FTL road transport to the unloading locations,
* ongoing operational coordination of the entire process,
* delivery monitoring.
The collection of containers from the terminal and their road transport to the designated warehouse were handled by the team specializing in sea container transport. For this project, BFI also arranged suitable warehouse space with a trusted logistics partner, where the cargo was transshipped and prepared for further distribution.
Once the warehouse operations were completed, responsibility was transferred to the **FTL and LTL team**, which carried out the road transport to the unloading locations according to the agreed schedule. Thanks to the coordination of every stage by one team, the client did not need to engage multiple logistics service providers – the entire process was managed by BFI.
Why choose a single logistics operator?
In many import projects, container collection, warehousing, and transport are handled by different service providers. This model often extends lead times, complicates communication, and increases the risk of operational errors.
In this project, the client chose to entrust all stages to a single partner. This streamlined the flow of information, reduced response times to changes, and ensured full control over the execution of the project. From the client’s perspective, this meant one project manager, one operational team, and one point of responsibility for the entire logistics process.
Project results
By combining container transport from the port, warehousing services, and road transport within a single project, all operational objectives were successfully achieved.
The project included **84 transports** and demonstrated that well-planned port logistics, combined with close cooperation between the CTC and FTL teams, makes it possible to efficiently manage even complex logistics processes. For the client, this meant simplified operations, greater delivery predictability, and a single partner responsible for the entire supply chain.
Comprehensive logistics services at BFI
At BFI, we believe that modern logistics is, above all, about the ability to coordinate processes. In addition to container transport from ports and FTL and LTL road transport, we also organize warehousing, transshipment, and logistics operations through our trusted partners.
We do not operate our own warehouses, which allows us to flexibly select warehouse space tailored to each project’s specific requirements, location, and customer needs. This approach enables us to design the most efficient supply chain instead of being limited to a single infrastructure.
For our clients, this means having one partner responsible for the entire process – from collecting the container at the port, through organizing warehousing and transshipment, to road transport to the final destination. This comprehensive approach streamlines logistics, reduces the number of subcontractors involved, and provides greater control over the entire project.
Do you need a partner who will take responsibility for your entire logistics process?
If you are looking for a logistics operator to handle container transport from the port, organize warehousing, coordinate transshipment, and provide road transport to warehouses or multiple unloading locations, get in touch with the BFI team. Together, we will design a solution tailored to the specific needs of your business and take full responsibility for your comprehensive logistics operations.
