Transport of power generators weighing over 30 tonnes – a comprehensive oversized cargo project

The transport of power generators and generator sets is one of the most demanding types of project logistics. In this project, we were responsible for organizing the transportation of heavy equipment for an industrial-sector client. Each shipment required individual planning, the selection of appropriate equipment, and the coordination of multiple stages before loading even began.

The biggest challenge was the weight of each generator, exceeding 30 tonnes, as well as their non-standard dimensions. Some of the units extended beyond the trailer’s outline, making it necessary to obtain the required permits, carefully plan the route, and organize the transport in compliance with regulations governing oversized cargo.

Each project began with a detailed analysis of the technical specifications of the equipment. Based on this assessment, we selected the appropriate transport configuration, taking into account both the weight and the center of gravity of the cargo.

At the same time, we carried out a route analysis, checking road infrastructure restrictions, permissible axle loads, bridge clearances, and the feasibility of safe passage.

An important part of the project was organizing the escort vehicles and completing all the formalities related to oversized transport. Thanks to thorough preparation, the entire process ran smoothly, ensuring the generators were delivered to their destination on schedule.

During loading, particular attention was paid to the correct positioning and securing of the generators. With equipment of such weight and value, even a slight shift in the center of gravity could affect transport safety. For this reason, the entire operation was carried out according to a pre-established plan and in close cooperation with the teams responsible for loading and unloading.

The project demonstrated that transporting power generators requires far more than just the right trailer. Success depends on experience in planning project cargo transport, a thorough understanding of administrative procedures, and the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously. Thanks to this comprehensive approach, all deliveries were completed on schedule and without any damage to the equipment being transported.
