How to transport waste efficiently in the EU?

Recycling in Europe is gaining momentum – and with it, the demand for specialized waste transport is growing. Changing regulations, increased environmental requirements, and the growing awareness of companies make waste logistics a key element of the entire recycling chain.

In 2025, waste transport is no longer just about moving materials from point A to point B. It’s about route planning, selecting the right type of trailer, understanding international regulations, and flexibility – especially when cooperating with recycling plants, sorting facilities, or incinerators across different European Union countries.

The growing importance of recycling in the EU

The European Union is tightening waste management requirements. New regulations are being implemented to limit landfilling, promote resource recovery, and support the circular economy (CE).

The result? More waste is being processed, and recycling companies need efficient, legal, and timely transport solutions. This increasingly means collaborating with logistics companies that specialize in cross-border waste transportation.

Walking-floor and dump trucks – proven solutions

In waste transportation, there is no room for chance. Choosing the right trailer is crucial – both for safety and efficiency.

Walking floor (floor conveyor trailers)

Ideal for light, voluminous fractions such as:
– plastics, foil
– paper and cardboard
– RDF/SRF
– green waste
– construction waste

Advantages:
– Unloading without the need to lift the trailer
– Ability to enter enclosed halls and warehouses
– Capacity up to 90 m³

Dump trucks (kippers)

Ideal for heavier, bulk materials:
– construction waste
– rubble
– soil and aggregates
– ashes

Advantages:
– Fast unloading by lifting the container
– Reliable in difficult terrain
– Easy load securing

Waste transportation in the EU – what is changing?

– More and more companies are sending waste abroad – for example, from Poland to Germany, the Netherlands, or Belgium.
– The number of RDF and secondary raw material recipients in Western Europe is increasing.
– Loading and unloading must be flexible – often at construction sites, in halls, and at irregular hours.
– The number of inspections is increasing – not every carrier can legally transport waste.
– Cross-border documentation – from eBase to ADR transport documents or notifications when required.
